"Let your vision be world embracing..." ~ Bahá’u’lláh
The Bahá’í Faith is the second most wide spread
of the world's religions, with more than six million followers, who reside
in 218 sovereign countries and dependent territories throughout the world. Bahá’ís
come from virtually every nation, ethnic group, culture, profession, and social
or economic class. More than 2,100 different ethnic and tribal groups are
represented.
The Bahá’í Faith is an independent world
religion, has its own scriptures, places of worship, and administration with
freely elected governing councils in nearly 10,000 localities.
The Bahá'í Faith, dating from 1844, is the most
recent of the world’s monotheistic religions. The Faith’s founder, Bahá’u’lláh,
a Persian nobleman whose name translates as “the Glory of God”, spent much of
his life in exile. He authored the equivalent of more than 100 volumes.
The divine Messenger, the Manifestation of God
for this day, is Bahá’u’lláh. His life, work, and influence parallel that of Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ, and Muhammad.
